End of Summer Video Palooza

Well it may not be the end of summer for you reader but for us here at the Chronicles Monday means no more summer for us. So to celebrate the only good thing about school which is that it means we are just that much closer to fall and hockey season I present you with End of Summer Video Palooza. And when I say palooza I’m very serious this is a LOT of videos! And in case your thinking ‘Hey stupid if its Monday then Sundays your last day of summer not today.’ I would agree but it would be the last day if I had done my assignments before hand instead of waiting for Sunday to cram. So here we go:

I know you all have probably seen this video but its one of my absolute favorites. Bruce’s kid is the cutest thing ever. He is also the luckiest kid ever.

Does anyone find the arguement between Green and Stecks about getting dumped slightly disturbing? But, completely adorable. Cougar Bait gets all bashful when Brady asks him about being well cougar bait is too funny.

Two kids reenacting famous fights including the most amazing slap fight ever AKA one of the top ten moments in Meghan’s life AKA Marc Staal v Alex Semin

Cabbie learn Russian from Semyon. Word of Warning: If you do NOT want to see Ovechkin scantly clad for any reason I don’t recommend this video.

Kris Versteeg doesn’t know a lot of words;

Thank you, thank you, thank you sweet jesus you said ‘under age’ when Miley Cyrus’s picture came up.

I found this video one time looking for a Cabbie as in the reporter video but I got a Nike commerical about a Goalie cab driver.

My favorite line is “Its hot in here!” “Maybe you should take off the mask.” “What mask?”

Gerry Dee ‘discredits’ the myth that hockey players aren’t very smart:

Okay I didn’t know one or two of those but good lord.

IF YOU WATCH ANY of these videos watch this one.

If you watch this video then do not barf and become OUTRAGED you should have.

Sharp and Burrish are hilarous. Word of Warning: If you do NOT want to see Sharp and Burish shirtless I don’t reccomend this video.

Maybe this is why Kane is so angry! Sharp and Burish are always picking on him and Toews!

An old commerical from when Mr. Fedorov was still on the Wings.

These kids are seriously hardcore!… too bad their on the same team!

Goats Galore

  • I love picking up the English language Russian news channel RT or Russia Today on my TV but today as I watched the sports report I was greeted with a bit of unfortunate news in an interview Mr. Ambassador says that if not allowed to attend the 2014 Sochi games he fully plans on quiting the NHL. (RT)
  • Are you going on a long trip and need someone to watch your pet goat? Perhaps you are temporally residing in a non-goat friendly residence? Did you parent realize that bleating noise coming from your room isn’t a new ring tone on your cell phone? Why call Alex Ovechkin! Want to know more? You know you do! Alex Ovetjkin Blog
  • It seems the Ovie new has no bounds today; To contradict the first remark when asked to comment on Mr. Fedorov and Viktor ‘goat man’ Kozlov he said that he would not be returning to the KHL unless there was the event of another lock out. Or, of course the Sochi olympics thing but he didn’t mention that again. And any how if you find the video (it’s out there somewhere but I can not find it right now) I feel like the reporter baited him into saying that first Sochi remark in the first place.
  • A couple post ago I introduced you to Gerry Dee. Now I want to introduce you to another The Score reporter Cabbie. If you don’t know who he is your probably American. Well he is a very cool reporter who is infamous for getting really close to the people he interviews. As you may recall I want to work for this TV station but specifically this man. I will carry his and his crew bags around I don’t care but here he is interviewing our Cap’s during the playoff run. There are three but I will show you my favorite;Learning Swedish. It is hilarious and many a Capital pops up; Brooks Laich, Mo, Nicki, Jose and GMGM kind of pop up the in the background and Jose is looking extra ‘I just woke up’ cranky. Plus I learned some Swedish and when I was watching TV just on Sunday someone said “You are hot” in Swedish and I knew what they said! All because of Nicki and the fact I’ve watched this video a million times.

A Little Music For Your Monday

As you may or may not be aware there was a little what I call “Ovechkin-paloza” for lack of a better term rececntly took place and thanks to the Alex Ovetjkin blog we have pictures of the likes of Ovie of course but also Semin and Mr. Fedorov. But also a video of Mr. Ambassador and Semin DJ-ing. Sure their DJ-ing so it can’t be that bad but naturally I was a little trepidatious after having experienced the musical poweress of their two teammates;

Once your dog stops howling in pain at the shrill guitar you can understand how even though I don’t know how you screw up DJ-ing I was nervous.

Why can’t you all just be like Brian Campbell?

If your parents did not go through a ‘We LOVE Canadian bands phase’ when you grew up then you may not know who the Tragically Hip are but trust me Brian Campbell did a pretty good job. And, if you’d like the determine that for yourself.

Headlines and Thoughts

  • The Cap’s are renewing their contract with the Stingrays to be their affiliate. Yay!
  • I offically just don’t like Malkin at all. I don’t know the interview I read on Yahoo! just kind of made it final no more Malkin for me.
  • HEY! Fedorov knock it off. I read that interview where you talked about how Semin was all ‘please stay’ and you were all ‘I gots to go’ and then your all like ‘the only way your playing with me agian is in Russia’. Oh no you didn’t! Don’t even put that thought in his head. I will have none of it! You stay away from our Semin! Or I will come to Russia personally and kick your butt.
  • Speaking of Fedorov he is sueing a man for money he invested back in 1998. 40 + million at the time. Good job buddy.
  • You know I still have not managed to come up with a nickname for Brendan Morrison? I came up with more nicknames for people who already have nicknames but I’ve yet to get one for him? And, pride will no longer allow me to take the suggestions I’ve gotten. It’s a challenge now.
  • Nicki’s brother Kristoffer is playing in Germany now instead of Sweden? Come to America Kristoffer puh-lease!
  • I think this weeks Snapshots with Joe Finley may have to been poorly timed.
  •  Thank you NHL.com for refering to Mr.Ambassador and Semin and the other Russians on the top ten list as Russian Dolls. I will be calling them that. It sounds like a Russian punk band. For next seasons promo video a cover of Personality Crisis? Drag is optional.

Dear Filatov,

I heard that the KHL is flirting with you. While now you are still under contract I have to ask you to please stay with the Jackets. You really may be their only hope in the next couple years. They really need that Russian skill set to Rick Nash’s play making skills. Plus I found out that until your twenty eight your RFA and in the words of the KHLPA chief ‘belong to their team’.

Babblings

I haven’t babbled in a while. You probably thought you were safe from it for a while there!
1. I am getting much better at talking about He Who Must Not Be Named I’ve graduated to saying You Know Who. And when Back In the USSR came up during shuffle on my Ipod I didn’t throw it across my living room this time. (You think I’m joking… sadly no) I also managed to talk about him with out sticking my fingers in my ears and going LALALA or ignoring the text message.
2. I keep getting hit in waves of how awesome september 26 is going to be. I keep thinking about all the ways I’m going to embaress my self too. Tripping and falling in the line to get something signed would suck the most I think (unless on of them caught me). I hope I don’t have to answer any sort of question during any part of the day. I’m not good with questions. Anna can attest to this.
3. I also hope I can keep a straight face. As Anna mentioned WAY to many inside jokes.
4. One thing on my hit list: picture with or at least of Mike Green. I want to show it to my friend who has a really unhealthy obsession with him so she can DIE and I can finally win the arguement we’ve been having for many months now.
5. I’m still not sure about Brendan Morrisons nickname if he sucks I can call him Brenda thats been decided.
6. So he’s from Michigan state? As a fan of Badgers hockey and a girl of Ohio family I should hate his guts (go buckeyes whoo hoo phffft). But, it shall be forgiven. As someone made my day by saying: with all these Wolverines and Russians we could do a remake of Red Dawn. (80′s movie: google it.)

2010 Olympics;; part deux

Finally, Russia has written the players attending the camp for the Olympics. Now, with the likes of Ovie, Sasha, Feds, Kozzie, Gonchar, Varly, etc having the possibility for being on the team, I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Team Russia or Team Canada? Am I the only one having this problem?

My mom suggested I root for both teams, until they play each other. Then, I brought up how epic it would be if she let me and Meghan go to the Olympics. I’ve asked 20,000 times, and the answer is still no. Damn.

2010 Olympics

We all know invitations have gone out for the 2010 Olympics orientation camps. Lists of the invited players have been released, and it is making it seemingly hard to choose which team I’m going to root for. At first, I was going for Team Russia. I like the Russian style of play, and regard the Russian hockey players as some of the best, but looking at the list of 46 players invited to the Team Canada camp, things are going to be difficult.

With the likes of Cam Ward, Marc-Andre Fleury, Martin Brodeur, Mike Green, Brent Seabrook, Rick Nash, Corey Perry, Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews, Martin St-Louis, Eric Staal, and Jordan Staal, among many others, on the list for the potential team, it will be hard for me to choose between Canada and Russia.

Especially with the likes of Ovie, Sasha, Geni, Feds, Nikita Filatov, and Pavel Datsyuk being potentially on Team Russia.

And don’t even get me started on Team USA with my precious little Kaner, but the chances of meeting rooting for my home country are slim, and since John Tortorella is slated to help on the coaching staff, those chances are slimmer.

So, the decision is between Russia and Canada. When rosters are finalized, I’ll let you know. I may have to cave and root for both…

This is a Metaphor so Don’t Freak

I got the news this morning. My favorite hockey player since I was nine has offically (well not entirely the caps have yet to comment but KHL says yes) left us. To go to the KHL for a two year 3.8 million dollars per year contract. So you’re kinda dead to me. Cause I’m not following the KHL and not because I don’t follow foreign leagues because I follow the United Kingdom Elite league and the Bundesleige because I offically kind of think of you as dead. I’ll think about all the awesome things you’ve done but it won’t even cross my mind that you’re still around doing new stuff other places. I think about how you used to be my favorite player (HEY Semin good news you just got bumped up a spot!) before you ‘died’ and how your my favorite ‘dead’ hockey player. Yeah, and thanks this has kind of ruined the song Back in the USSR by the Beetles.

So rest in peace our russian friend we had lots of good times.

AND I’m still confused on how he defected here and he can go back. Like I understand he defected when they were the Soviet Union but I didn’t think countries in general liked it when you defect no matter when it was. Especially when you have skill and they wanted you on your team there. Oh whatever just don’t get shot or tasered or anything okay buddy because if you really died I’d be REALLY upset.

ALSO in this sort of news Brash expects to hit the open market which sets my teeth on edge. No offense but an old bruiser starting to kind of lose the edge isn’t exactly on everyones shopping list. And, I like you Brash and I don’t want to see you get rejected. Well if the Cap’s won’t take you then I hope a nice team does.

SO, I hope this doesn’t start a dominoe effect of DOOM like I thought it might earlier. I also hope the young Russian who just lost both their mentors will be okay. Come on guys your big boys now you can handle it!

I’m Better Now … Sort of

So I got out the good old paper bag and calmed myself down and I want to list all the reasons why Feds should not be a money grubber (even though I get it) and stay here:

  1. I think that his experience is vital on such a young team
  2. I think that the young Russians on the team losing both of their mentors would end with them self imploding and Semin who we’ve encourage so much to get him out of his shell will just completely regress and revert not to even Russian but to whimpering sounds as his only form of communication.
  3. I easily fear/imagine the Caps completely self imploding this summer with trades and signings as I think Feds & Kozzo leaving would just start a domino effect of doom.
  4. Notice how I mention self imploding  a lot ?
  5. GMGM what have you been thinking lately? What  happened? You were doing so well than the Jose trade came and your talent for picking good players and keeping them all went to hell.
  6. So in conclusion this is all somehow Jose’s fault.

So its not a done deal yet but it looks like it might stick so all I ask  of  the Caps this summer is to not completely destroy themselves. And whose this new kid? The mystery man from Wisconsin? He sounds promising and he’s a center which if I recall is what Kozlovs and Feds position are …

P.S. Canes could you please pull your heads out of your butts and win tonight? It would be much obliged when my world is falling to ruins.

Don’t Leave Me!

Dear Feds,

I know its not offically yet so I’m trying so hard not to believe it but you can not not NOT go to the KHL. I’ve adored you forever and when you came to the Caps I thought I’d die of excitement so the thought of you leaving for any other reason then you want to retire kills me KILLS ME! Don’t go to Russia they can not possibly love you as much as I do. Okay okay sure you miss your family and your brother Fedor plays there but well they don’t like you as much as we Cap’s fans do me especially I even believe you when you say you ’married’ that tennis player (suuuuuure). So don’t go Feds DON”T GO!

P.S. Kozzy? Ehhhhhhhh….
