It’s the most exciting time of the year and today was the first day of Caps playoff hockey!
The boys looked very good in the first period. Despite this Cammalleri scored the first goal. However Joe Corvo, of all people, ripped one in of the point. 1-1 to end the first.
The second period was less sparkling. The Caps were lucky to make it out of the second with out the Habs notching a goal seeing as they spent most of their time in the Caps zone. Our defenseman decided to play “Oh that other guy will get him” game at the same time. Still 1-1.
Third period the Caps ripped one off only a minute or so in, Backstrom tallying the goal. However Gomez tied it up not very long after. 2-2 at the end of the third.
… And then there was OT. Real OT. Playoff OT. After many minutes of heart seizing chances for both sides Montreal put it on a bouncing puck over Jose. 3-2 Montreal is your final.
But who is our Weagle Scout of the Game?
What can I say? The child is a freak of nature; he does stuff on the ice a defenseman his age shouldn’t be able to do. And, he was on tonight.
Weagle Jr Scout was Boyd Gordon holy wow was he on his game.
Overall an extremely mixed review for the first game but considering the games of day 1 this is going to be a good playoffs. I was expecting the Habs to give us a spot of trouble. They seem to do that.
So it’s not the end of the world that Ovie wasn’t super present, or that we lost the first game. Jose and Halak were both completely on their “A” game which might be the biggest deciding factor of this series. The question it which goalie cracks first?
Montreal 1-0 on the series.
See you kids Saturday.
