AHL Playoffs Round One

I really hate the lack of time I have to pay attention to other teams in the NHL playoffs. And, the AHL playoffs in general? Hardly time to check my Bears scores. So for those of you equally frustrated here is what’s going on in the first round of AHL playoffs so far.

The Eastern and Atlantic division series are all done already but here’s what happened in them:

THE ATLANTIC:

Worcester Sharks vs Lowell Devils

Sharks win the series 4-1

The series went fives games with the Sharks  coming out on top of  Lowell and the scores to these games:

  • 1. LOW (3) at WOR (2)
  • 2. LOW (2) at WOR (3) OT
  • 3. WOR (3) at LOW (2)
  • 4. WOR (4) at LOW (2)
  • 5. WOR (5) at LOW (1)
  • Portland Pirates vs Manchester Monarchs

    Manchester wins the series 4-0

Sweep, sweep, sweep! Manchester sweeps Portland in four games:

  • 1. MCH (2) at POR (1)
  • 2. MCH (3) at POR (1)
  • 3. POR (1) at MCH (2) OT
  • 4. POR (2) at MCH (7)
  • Manchester will face the Sharks in the next round

    THE EAST

Hershey Bears vs Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Hershey Bears win the series 4-1

The Hershey Bears are playing as they usually do; out of their minds. They brought up some new faces and lost Carlson to the Caps and barely miss a beat:

  • 2. BRI (2) at HER (3)
  • 3. HER (7) at BRI (2)
  • 4. HER (1) at BRI (4)
  • 5. BRI (1) at HER (4)
  • Albany River Rats vs Wilkes Barre Scranton

    Albany sweeps 4-0

You can’t hear me but I’m chuckling at the Baby Pens (and therefore the future of the big club)

  • 1. WBS (3) at ALB (4)
  • 2. WBS (2) at ALB (3)
  • 3. ALB (2) at WBS (1)
  • 4. ALB (5) at WBS (3)
  • Albany faces the Bears in round 2

    THE NORTH:

    THE WEST:

    Chicago Wolves vs Milwaukee Admirals

    Chicago leads the series 3-2

Let’s not kid ourselves I’m rooting for the Ads in this one because a) their logo is kick ass 2) they signed former Badger and Hobey Baker winner Blake Geoffirion to an ATO contract for the playoffs (though he already hurt his leg and his out). The series continues tonight at 7. The scores so far and the schedule to come:
