We are the champions.
My friends, the Hershey Bears have won the Calder Cup tonight, (June 14th, 2010) for the second time in a row. The Bears got a shut out in the 4-0 against the Texas Stars in game six. Every goal was score by a defenseman; Patrick McNeill (two goals), Kris Kringle Karl Alzner, and Captain America John Carlson.
The Giant Center had a record-setting attendance of 11,002 as Chris Bourque hoisted the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy (for MVP of the playoffs) and our captain Brian Helmer lifted the Calder Cup with the rest of the team and their families.
That’s eleven Calder Cups in franchise history.
That is the first time a team has won back to back Cups since 1991.
This is the end of the AHL’s 74th season.
This is awesome:
And, lastly Michal Neuvirth is a pimp with 22 saves for the shut out.
One of the announcers, I was too busy celebrating to be sure which it was, begged the question “Is it too early to talk about a three peat?”
Never when you’re the Hershey Bears.
